mean for your business?

Your numbers.
Your scenario.

The starting values are illustrative, not industry averages. Replace them with your own estimates. Inputs stay in this page and are not sent to Operopsy.

Count distinct callers or requests once. Exclude repeated attempts for the same inquiry.

The share of those missed calls that are new, suitable customer inquiries. Exclude spam and existing-job updates.

The share of qualified missed inquiries your existing follow-up already reaches and handles.

Of the qualified inquiries still unhandled, the share an improved process might reach and handle.

The share of those additionally handled inquiries you expect to become paid work, not just bookings.

Collected sales per paid job, before business costs. Exclude sales tax, refunds and uncollected quotes.

What the formula does

Start with missed unique calls in one month. Keep the share that represents qualified new inquiries, then remove the share your team already recovers. Apply an assumption for the remaining inquiries an improved process could handle, the percentage that could become paid jobs and the average collected sale.

Missed calls × qualified share × (1 − already recovered share) × additionally handled share × paid-job conversion × average collected sale.

The example is 80 × 50% × 75% × 60% × 30% × $350. That leaves 18 additionally handled inquiries, 5.4 expected paid jobs and $1,890 in potential gross sales. A fractional job expresses an average expectation across similar periods, not part of a real appointment.

What the formula cannot tell you

This is a scenario, not evidence that revenue has been lost or could be recovered. It does not measure whether AI, a team member or another change causes additional sales. Some customers may contact you again or buy through another channel. Excluding existing follow-up reduces overlap but does not establish causation.

The result is gross collected sales before costs. It excludes labor, materials, travel, service fees, phone usage, setup costs and other expenses. It also does not model capacity, seasonality, changing demand, cancellations or differences between job types. Review those separately before choosing a service or setting a budget.

03 / MAKE IT USEFUL

Better questions.
A clearer next step.

Where should my inputs come from?+

Review a recent, representative month of call records with your team. Count repeat attempts for the same inquiry once, identify suitable new requests and check which were already handled. Use paid-job and collected-sales records for conversion and sale value. If an input is unknown, compare a conservative and an optimistic assumption instead of treating the example as a benchmark.

Does a bigger result mean I need AI?+

No. It suggests a question worth investigating. Staffing, clearer ownership, a callback process, approved messaging or AI call handling may address different gaps. Check your actual response process, customer needs and available capacity first. Our missed-call follow-up guide explains how to map the handoffs.

How can I check whether a change helped?+

Record the starting process and compare qualified inquiries, completed follow-up, paid jobs and collected sales after the change. Account for seasonality, advertising and other changes happening at the same time. Report observed outcomes separately from claims that one tool caused them. The calculator itself does not track results.

04 / PUT THE QUESTION TO WORK

Start with the gap.
Build the right response.

Your estimate is a conversation starter. The next step is understanding the call flow, the people and the work your business can deliver.
